Most unconventional (shocking?) sex scenes in books

Source: unsplash.com (Alexander Krivitskiy)

Ok, so this post is going to be R-rated, so proceed only if you’re 18 or older. As the title suggest, I will be choosing the most unconventional (shocking even, but not a bad way) sex scenes, from my reading experiences I’ve come across until now.

A little disclaimer is in order though: if you proceed reading you will find alien genitals, biologically enhanced humans, ghosts, some kinks and premonitional dream scenes. But you won’t find sex scenes without consent or unreasonable/excessive violence. Such things are just not my cup of tea. So let’s start, shall we?

As for starters, this is not a top-list, the books chosen aren’t better or lesser compared to each other. I simply had chosen them because I liked those books very much, some of them figures among my all time favorites.

Jailmates (Lesli Richardson)

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Short description of the story:

First of all, I refuse to insert the book cover here. If you’re wondering why, you can check out my opinion regarding ugly book covers here. Other than that, the book is great and in my opinion perfectly worthy of your time. So the story takes place in the far future where humanity is a part of a galactic coalition. It is about a human – Simon – who finds himself in the middle of a series of genetical experiments due to his reluctance to read the contract (not just the small print, he misses all the capital lettered points too). Therefore he is bound to participate in the experiment to make him and a Pharn specimen – Mohrn – compatible (genetically and sexually).

The chosen scene:

The Pharn is a reptile-like specie, its individuals are androgynous, with male and female genitals. They can either be the penetrating or the penetrated half of an intercourse. And they are replicating with eggs, laying and inseminating it inside the pouch of one Pharn. So when the human half of the couple – Sy – first comes across the facts, it leads to a bit of a shocking astonishment and a lot of unsure fumbling.

Excerpt of the scene:

I help him get his (Mohrn) brahkhen (kilt-like clothes the Pharn usually wear) unfastened and off and put him on the bed on his back. I see his pouch bulged out and I barely manage to get his cock fished out before whatever they shot him up with kicks in like a plasma cannon punching through a cardboard wall.

His eyes widen and the irises turn violet as a low, rumbling chuffing starts from deep within him. The subtle scent I normally pick up around him? It’s thick and filling the air now, strong, some sort of pheromone, I guess. My body’s reacting, too. I’m all slippery, my cock throbbing and leaking.

The Ghost of Ellwood (Jaclyn Osborn)

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Short description of the story:

I liked this book, but I have to say that even its main concept is unconventional (not just the erotical parts). The story is about a bestseller writer who escapes his big city life and his cheating boyfriend by moving to a small town two hours drive away from New York. The house he’d fallen in love with at first glance is haunted by a hundred year old spirit, Theodore Blackwell. At first Theo does his best to scare Ben away, but Ben is stubborn enough to stay and become friends with the ghost. In this book ghosts can materialize before the living by their own accord. At first Ben and Theo create a roommates-like living routine, but as the story advances, they fall in love.

The chosen scene:

Sex with a ghost is in itself unconventional, I think. But it does not include possessed bodies or any other disturbing scenes. Theo just simply materializes with a solid enough body to have sex. I won’t lie, it was strange, maybe unsettling even, but it was based on consent, mutual attraction and lust. So it’s OK, I guess. The excerpt below is their first time together.

Excerpt of the scene:

Theo moaned and rested his cheek on the top of my head. He felt cold in my hand. His shaft warmed as I started to pump him, though. A warm tingling sensation took effect after that, and he shuddered beneath me, slapping a hand to my back and clawing my shoulders.

“More,” he whined.

Back Where He Belongs (Isobel Starling)

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Short description of the story:

This book is about wrong decisions and second chances. Kier tried to leave behind his nature and his seemingly inevitable conflicts with his parents by fleeing to Australia. He left everything behind along with his boyfriend (Douglas), and led a lonely and miserable life for five long years. When he finally decides to return to Scotland for the holidays, his rental car breaks down in the middle of nowhere among the Scottish mountains threatened by a fast approaching blizzard. He’s saved by his ex-boyfriend, and they both get cut off from civilization and family in the raging blizzard, stuck in Douglas’ house. Using well this idle time they finally manage to mend what was broken between them. The story is lovely, their reunion is heartwarming, but beware of the doggy kink… If you don’t like it, this book might prove hard to digest.

The chosen scene:

Kier and Douglas liked role-plays before, and it wasn’t dimmed over the time. When they finally confess their feelings for each other, they revisit the old plays when one of them acting as a dog, and the other as his master. The one playing the dog wears a dog mask, gets called by his dog name, and cannot speak, he only may communicate with woofs. I’m usually not into kinks, and the boys’s doggy role-play was a bit too much for me…

Excerpt of the scene:

Freckle drew off the spit-wet shaft and licked at that very spot, making Douglas wantonly gasp, “Ohhh, Freckle, that’s it. That’s mah, good boy,” holding his pup’s head in place and grinding against him.

Freckle’s heart leaped in his chest. Pleasing his master was so satisfying. He took his time with the blow job, occasionally pausing to look up at Douglas with dark, pleading eyes seeking assurance that he was doing well, to be met by praise of, “That’s it. Good puppy.”

In the Absence of Light (Adrienne Wilder)

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Short description of the story:

Grant is a big-shot goods smuggler until he gets the world’s largest hot-foot, and he moves (flees) into a no-name small town to loose his pursuers. He meets Morgan there, an autistic, beautiful young man with extreme intelligence and talented in fine arts. They start to fool around, and slowly but surely something much more bigger grows from that easy fun, and finally Grant finds himself wanting forever with Morgan.

The chosen scene:

Morgan used to take ballet lessons, so he is unbelievably bendy, and there is no reason for refrain from using that kind of talent when it comes to pleasuring himself or Grant.

Excerpt of the scene:

I spiraled my finger over his entrance until I was at the center, then pushed. Morgan’s breath went faster with every inch. I pulled back slowly, and he whimpered into my mouth. I broke the kiss and lapped at the head of his dick. “Blow yourself, Morgan, I want to watch you suck your cock.” He didn’t hesitate.

Brothers of the Wild North Sea (Harper Fox)

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Short description of the story:

Caius is one of the brethren of the monks of Fara, representing the new religion and new God in the northern parts of England. When Vikings raid their monastery and destroys almost everything killing his more-than-brother and their beloved abbot, Cauis is forced into impossible decisions. He has to stand his ground and put up a fight when the Viking raiders come next. Before the first raid Caius is told about the Viking warriors’ arrival, then he has a dream about a wolf coming from the sea, he manages to tame. He wounds a warrior during the next raid, and the injured Fenrir gets left behind by his brother and fellow warriors. Caius at first wants to kill him as revenge, but he doesn’t have the heart to do it. Instead of killing the raider he finds himself nursing Fenrir back to health taming the wolf by doing so.

The chosen scene:

My chosen scene from this book is the dream, the vision about the wolf coming from the wild North Sea, because in the dream we bear witness a very unconventional method of taming a wolf.

Excerpt of the scene:

He had a strange dream. In it, a wolf came from the sea. Cai, standing on the moonlit beach, felt no fear. (…)

It stood still, shook off its fur and became a man. Disbelief held Cai in place. When finally he turned and began to run, it was too late—his feet tangled in seaweed, and the creature caught him easily, knocking him flat. Hot breath brushed his ear. Wolf’s teeth sank into his shoulder, but there was no pain. The weight that pinned him was all human. A human arm locked round his chest. A strength like nothing he’d ever felt before restrained him, and he shuddered in terror and pleasure. Rough words resounded in his head, a language he didn’t understand, but he knew what he was being told to do and did it, spreading his thighs, lifting his backside to his captor’s thrust. He waited to be torn apart. (…)

The creature—the human, the wolf—said his name, and the tenderness of it, the deep vibration, sent a melting rush into Cai’s very bones. He pushed up in longing, and there was no pain, only an overwhelming feeling of being owned, claimed, brought home. Thrust after thrust…

These are the most unconventional sex scenes in my opinion. Do you agree with the list above? Or is there any other strange scene you would add? I am really curious what kind of scene you’d choose for a similar list.
